What you must report
- The number of dwelling units
- The number of units that had a bed bug infestation during the previous year, as reported or otherwise known to the owner
- The number of units where eradication measures were used during the previous year
- The number of those units that had an infestation after eradication measures were used
After you file
The owner must either give a copy of the filing receipt to each tenant, at the start of a new lease and with each lease renewal, or post it in a prominent location in the building within 60 days of filing.
The online application only accepts validly registered owners and managing agents of multiple dwellings, so the building's property registration must be current.
Frequently asked questions
When is the NYC bed bug report due?
Between December 1 and December 31 each year, for the period from November 1 of the prior year through October 31 of the current year.
Does it cost anything to file?
No. HPD says the filing is free. Be careful with companies that offer to file it for a fee.
What if my building had no bed bugs?
The report still asks for your unit count and each infestation figure, so you report zero in those fields.
